The Indigenous Helicopter Program, initiated to meet the general-purpose helicopter requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces and other relevant authorities with an original platform, was launched by the decision of the Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSİK) on June 15, 2010.
The program’s budget and timeline were approved during the SSİK meeting on January 3, 2013, and a contract was signed between the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) and Turkish Aerospace on June 26, 2013.
The T625 GÖKBEY Multirole Helicopter, designed and manufactured using national capabilities, is built to operate effectively in the most challenging climates and terrains, at high altitudes and temperatures, both day and night. The Indigenous Helicopter Program, initiated based on the knowledge, expertise, and experience gained during the T129 ATAK Program, includes the design and production of critical systems such as structural and avionics systems, transmission, rotor, and landing gear, all developed entirely with national resources.
Due to its wide range of capabilities, the helicopter can perform missions such as transport, VIP transport, cargo, air ambulance, search and rescue, and offshore transport.
The first domestically developed and produced Multirole Helicopter, the T625 GÖKBEY, successfully performed its maiden flight on September 6, 2018, at 06:00. On April 19, 2023, the T625 GÖKBEY helicopter’s P1 prototype successfully completed its first test flight powered by the TEI-TS1400 Turboshaft Engines, which were also developed and produced domestically by TEI.
The T625 GÖKBEY helicopter, designed for both domestic and international users using national resources, performs its missions effectively in the harshest climates and terrains, at high altitudes and temperatures, both day and night, powered by the national TEI-TS1400 Turboshaft Engines. The first T625 GÖKBEY Multirole Helicopter was delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command during a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Deliveries of the helicopters, whose serial production continues within the scope of the ongoing project, are ongoing.
