The Indigenous Helicopter Program, launched by the decision of the Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSİK) on June 15, 2010, aims to address the utility helicopter needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and other authorities through the development of an indigenous platform.
The program budget and schedule were determined by the SSİK decision dated January 3, 2013, with the contract between the Defence Industry Agency/Undersecretary for Defence Industries and Turkish Aerospace being signed on June 26, 2013.
The T625 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopter, designed to operate effectively in high-altitude and high-temperature conditions day and night, even in the most challenging climates and geographies, is designed and manufactured using national facilities and capabilities. Under the Indigenous Helicopter Program, which draws upon the knowledge, expertise, experience, and capabilities gained during the ATAK Program, the design and production of critical systems such as transmission, rotor, landing gear, as well as structural and avionics systems, are being carried out entirely with national resources.
The helicopter is designed to undertake a diverse array of missions, including VIP transport, cargo transport, air ambulance services, search and rescue operations, and offshore transportation missions.
T625 GÖKBEY, the first utility helicopter developed and manufactured with indigenous capabilities, successfully completed its inaugural flight on September 6, 2018, at 06:00. Subsequently, on April 19, 2023, the P1 Prototype of the T625 GÖKBEY Helicopter underwent its first test flight, powered by the TS1400 Turboshaft Engines developed and produced by TEI with indigenous capabilities.
Necessary work for the certification of the helicopter by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Authority) and the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) is currently underway as part of the program.
The testing and certification activities for our T625 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopter, designed and manufactured by Turkish Aerospace, are progressing successfully. Developed with domestic resources to serve both domestic and international users, the GÖKBEY Helicopter will effectively execute its missions even in the most challenging climates and terrains, under high-altitude and high-temperature conditions, and during day and night operations, thanks to the National TS1400 Turboshaft Engines. Three T625 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopters, currently undergoing serial production, are scheduled for delivery to the Gendarmerie General Command.
