HÜRJET Achieves Its First Intercontinental Flight

The inaugural Egypt International Aviation Fair was held from September 3-5, 2024, at El Alamein International Airport, located near Alexandria, Egypt. Hosted by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense and the Egyptian Air Force, the event brought together government officials from Africa and the Middle East, senior executives from the defense, space, and aviation sectors, and aviation enthusiasts. Our company participated in the fair at the highest level. At our exhibition stand, we showcased 1/7 scale models of the Turkish Fighter KAAN, the HÜRJET Advanced Jet Trainer, the T129 ATAK Multirole Combat Helicopter, and the AKSUNGUR UAV. Among these, HÜRJET, recognized as one of the most advanced platforms in its class worldwide, took to the skies five times during the event. Among these flights, the one that created the most buzz was undoubtedly HÜRJET’s demonstration flight over the Pyramids of Egypt. Captivating the attention of tourists visiting the pyramids, the flight gained significant media coverage and became a prominent topic in public discourse.

HÜRJET Crosses the Mediterranean to Reach Egypt

Ahead of the fair’s commencement on September 3, 2024, HÜRJET departed from Mürted Air Base in Ankara’s Kahramankazan district on Thursday, August 29. After landing in Antalya for refueling and completing its final pre-flight checks, the aircraft took off once again the same day, crossing the Mediterranean in a 1-hour-and-15-minute journey before landing in Egypt.

HÜRJET Soars Over the Pyramids

Upon arriving in Egypt, HÜRJET began performing demonstration flights as part of the event. Making its first-ever flight demonstration outside of Türkiye, the aircraft took off once more from El Alamein International Airport on the final day of the fair, this time heading towards the pyramids. HÜRJET conducted a breathtaking 10-minute flight over the Giza Pyramids, which were constructed approximately 4,500 years ago and have endured through the ages as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Following this iconic performance, HÜRJET returned to El Alamein International Airport.

HÜRJET Takes Flight with an Egyptian Pilot

Demonstrating its prowess in one of Africa’s largest nations, HÜRJET once again captured attention with another significant milestone during the fair. On September 4, 2024, a demonstration flight was conducted by our Test Pilot Orhan Boran and Egyptian Air Force F-16 Pilot Ahmed Elmallah. The Egyptian pilot experienced first-hand the capabilities of our domestically developed aircraft during the flight. HÜRJET became a focal point of interest for Egyptian pilots throughout the event.
