SÜPER ŞİMŞEK COMPLETES AUTONOMOUS FLIGHT AFTER RELEASE FROM ANKA III

The Süper Şimşek High Subsonic UAV System, developed indigenously by Turkish Aerospace, has successfully completed an autonomous flight test following its first release from the ANKA III unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).

Developed through the dedicated efforts of Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) engineers, this test once again demonstrated the integrated mission capability of Türkiye’s indigenous unmanned aerial systems. During the test flight, the ANKA III carried the Süper Şimşek UAV system under its wing and released it at a pre-determined altitude. Following a safe separation, Süper Şimşek continued its flight autonomously and completed the test flawlessly.

Having performed its maiden flight on December 28, 2023, the delta-wing, low-observable UAV system ANKA III continues its test campaign. With a greater payload capacity compared to ANKA and AKSUNGUR platforms, ANKA III successfully carried out a joint mission with the Super Şimşek UAV System, also developed nationally by TUSAŞ. Taking off from Airfield Command with Super Şimşek mounted under its wing, ANKA III reached the Test Range. Following pre-release checks, Super Şimşek was safely deployed under pilot command from ANKA III. After separation, the Süper Şimşek UAV completed a 50-minute autonomous flight and landed safely using its onboard parachute system.

Designed to operate as an effective weapon system against both air and ground targets, the Super Şimşek High Subsonic UAV System also offers the flexibility to carry various types of payloads for electronic support and attack missions on a single platform.
