Another significant milestone has been achieved in the HÜRJET program, developed by Turkish Aerospace using national resources. The second prototype of HÜRJET, Türkiye’s first domestically developed advanced jet trainer, has successfully conducted its maiden flight.
The first prototype of the HÜRJET Jet Trainer Aircraft took to the skies on April 25, 2023, and has since completed over 150 sorties. Following this achievement, the second prototype was manufactured and made its first flight on November 12, 2023.
During the flight, HÜRJET P2 remained airborne for 26 minutes, reaching a speed of 200 knots and an altitude of 10,000 feet. As a tribute, the names of five martyrs from the terrorist attack targeting Turkish Aerospace—Zahide Güçlü Ekici, Hasan Hüseyin Canbaz, Atakan Şahin Erdoğan, Cengiz Coşkun, and Murat Arslan—were inscribed on the aircraft.
Following its maiden flight, the second prototype received a new coat of paint, featuring shades of black. Under its striking new livery, HÜRJET P2 completed its second flight on November 21, 2023.
Developed under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) to meet the needs of the Turkish Air Force Command, the HÜRJET program was launched in 2017 and is fully manufactured using domestic resources. The single-engine jet trainer boasts a tandem-seat configuration, a modern avionics cockpit, and exceptional performance. HÜRJET is scheduled for delivery to the Turkish Air Force Command in 2026, marking a transformative leap for Türkiye’s aviation capabilities.
