T625 GÖKBEY MULTIROLE UTILITY HELICOPTER DELIVERED TO THE GENERAL COMMAND OF THE GENDARMERIE

Türkiye’s first domestically developed multi-role helicopter, the T625 GÖKBEY, produced by Turkish Aerospace, was officially handed over to the General Command of the Gendarmerie during a ceremony held at the Kahramankazan campus.

The ceremony was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Secretariat of Defense Industries Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, and Commander of the Gendarmerie General Command, General Ali Çardakcı.

“GAME-CHANGING PROJECTS ARE EMERGING”

Speaking at the delivery ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan praised the groundbreaking projects spearheaded by Turkish Aerospace. Erdoğan stated:

“As the leading organization in our nation’s aviation and space industries, Turkish Aerospace has, in recent years, developed products that not only strengthen the capabilities of our security forces but also enhance the capacities of friendly and allied nations. The secret behind Turkish Aerospace’s success, which fills us with pride, lies in the increasing cooperation and coordination among our institutions. As this harmony strengthens, we witness the emergence of game-changing projects, just like the one we are celebrating here today.”

Following his speech, President Erdoğan inscribed and signed the name of Zahide Güçlü Ekici, one of the martyrs of the terrorist attack targeting Turkish Aerospace, onto the T625 GÖKBEY Multirole Utility helicopter.

“WE WILL KEEP PRODUCING, DEFIANTLY”

Turkish Aerospace PResident and CEO Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu, in his remarks, stated:

“The heinous attack we endured has once again underscored the importance of the national defense vision, the National Technology Initiative, and TUSAŞ, as emphasized by our President. Dark forces, knowing that a strong Türkiye disrupts their schemes, may believe they can intimidate us or weaken our resolve by resorting to terrorism. On the contrary, fully aware of the importance of our work, we did not take even a single day off. The morning after the attack, we were back at our desks and workstations, defying our enemies by continuing to produce—and we will produce even more, with unwavering determination.”

A NATIONAL INITIATIVE WITH A BOLD VISION

The project, aimed at addressing the multi-role helicopter needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and other stakeholders with an indigenous platform, was initiated under the “Original Helicopter Program” with a decision by the Defense Industry Executive Committee (SSİK) on June 15, 2010. The program’s budget and timeline were approved by SSİK on January 3, 2013, and the contract between the Defense Industry Undersecretariat (SSM) and Turkish Aerospace was signed on June 26, 2013.

Designed and manufactured using national resources, the T625 GÖKBEY Multirole Utility Helicopter is capable of operating effectively under the most challenging climatic and geographical conditions, at high altitudes and temperatures, during both day and night. As part of the Original Helicopter Program, critical systems such as structures, avionics, transmissions, rotors, and landing gear have all been developed and produced entirely through domestic capabilities, ensuring full independence in its design and production processes.
